Newcastle United are reportedly offered the services of Charlie Austin following an alleged bust-up with Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.

Newcastle United reportedly have the chance to sign Charlie Austin amid the striker's ongoing issues with parent club Southampton.

The 30-year-old is believed to have upset Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl with an alleged "dressing room rant" last week and the forward has since been excluded from the team's pre-season preparations in Austria and Ireland.

According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Austin is one of several transfer targets currently being discussed by new Magpies boss Steve Bruce and managing director Lee Charnley following the £40m addition of Joelinton earlier this week.

Whilst Newcastle have tried to steer clear of signing older players in recent years, time in the transfer windows is running out and the 30-year-old former Burnley frontman would be available for a reduced price as he only has one year left on his current contract at St Mary's.

Austin has made more than 70 appearances for the South Coast club since joining from Queens Park Rangers in January 2016.
