Michael Bridges welcomes Emile Heskey signing

Newcastle Jets striker Michael Bridges has hailed the signing of Emile Heskey as a "massive coup" for the club.

Newcastle Jets striker Michael Bridges has called Emile Heskey a "tremendous signing" for the club.

Heskey signed for the Australian side on Thursday and former Leeds United striker Bridges believes that Heskey can bring quality to the A-League club.

Bridges said: "I think Emile is a tremendous signing for the Jets.

"He's just left Aston Villa where he was playing in the Premier League last season and that says a lot about his quality.

"It's a massive coup for the club to bring someone of his stature to Newcastle."

Heskey scored 14 goals in 110 appearances for Aston Villa before being released by the club at the end of last season.
