Half-Time Report: Rennes keeping out PSG

Paris Saint-Germain and Rennes reach the half-time interval without making a breakthrough in their Ligue 1 clash.

Paris Saint-Germain have been frustrated in their attempts to find a breakthrough in a goalless first half with Rennes.

The leaders were in charge in the early stages as Angel di Maria created the space for a cross which needed saving by Benoit Costil after a deflection at the near post.

Ezequiel Lavezzi, who was handed a start in attack with Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the bench, threatened to break the deadlock with a free kick from the edge of the box, but his effort drifted just wide of the target.

It was Lavezzi who continued to look the most threatening player on the pitch as he turned past two defenders in the box before unleashing a powerful effort to force Costil into a save.

Rennes struggled to put pressure on the PSG defence for extended spells, and the hosts only threatened when Yacouba Sylla's long-range strike was easily collected by Kevin Trapp.

Di Maria followed the example by trying his luck from distance, but his effort was straight at Costil as Rennes continued to frustrate the visitors.
