Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is sidelined for the next two months with a knee injury he suffered against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar has been ruled out for eight weeks because of a knee injury.

The 29-year-old suffered the injury during his side's 2-1 home win against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga on Saturday.

The Netherlands international collided with goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand and tore the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

It has now been confirmed that Huntelaar will spend the next two months on the sidelines, meaning that coach Jens Keller will have only Teemu Pukki as his fit and experienced striker in the squad.
