Spain boss Vicente del Bosque admits that Andrea Piro could win the Ballon d'Or, describing him as a "complete footballer".

Spain boss Vicente del Bosque believes that Andrea Pirlo deserves to win the win the Ballon d'Or.

The Italian playmaker was a beaten finalist at the European Championships with Italy, putting in some world-class performances along the way.

The veteran also enjoyed a successful domestic campaign with Juventus, going unbeaten throughout the season as they claimed the Serie A title.

Pirlo is amongst the candidates for the award and, now, the Spain manager has backed the former AC Milan midfielder.

"Yes, Pirlo could well win the Ballon d'Or," Del Bosque told Gazzetta.

"He is a complete footballer, capable of creating the play and finishing it off.

"Admittedly, though, I hope the prize goes to a Spanish player."

Spaniards such as Iker Casillas and Andres Iniesta are also in the running for the prestigious award.
