Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier: 'We're a stronger team this season'

Tottenham Hotspur's Eric Dier believes that his side have learned lessons from their defeat to Chelsea in the Capital One Cup last season to become a stronger team.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has declared that his team are a stronger outfit than the last time they played Chelsea in the final of the Capital One Cup.

The Blues defeated Spurs 2-0 at Wembley to win the League Cup, despite Dier's belief that Mauricio Pochettino's men were the better team on the day.

However, the 21-year-old is confident that his side have improved due to their ability to grind out results this season.

"Chelsea were very impressive that day because I think we were the better side, but they just knew how to win," Dier told reporters.

"You could tell they had a lot of experienced players who have played a lot of games and won a lot of trophies, and they knew how to win and grind out a result. But I think we've proved that we learnt from that this season and we've ground out results."

Tottenham face Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
