Alan Pardew content with Newcastle United form

Alan Pardew believes that Newcastle United have made an enviable start to the Premier League season despite growing discontent among the St James' Park faithful.

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has said that he is content with the start his side have made to the new season.

The Magpies currently find themselves ninth in the Premier League, with four wins, four defeats and two draws from their 10 games so far.

Pardew believes that a lot of clubs would swap positions with his team, and is happy with the "positive press" his side have received following their 2-0 victory over Chelsea.

"There are a lot of clubs who would envy our position as we sit here today and we have to always think that our glass is half-full rather than half-empty, which I think sometimes we do up here," Sky Sports News quotes the 52-year-old as saying.

"I think we are in better shape than we have been given credit for. But this week, I have seen a lot more positive press about our players, who have been terrific. We have had some great performances."

Newcastle travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
