Tottenham Hotspur's Mauricio Pochettino: 'Arsenal-Leicester result not important'

Mauricio Pochettino is only concerned by Tottenham Hotspur's trip to Manchester City and is not thinking about Sunday's other top-four clash between Arsenal and Leicester.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that his side will not be affected by the result of Sunday's early Premier League match between Arsenal and Leicester City before his side's trip to Manchester City.

On a blockbuster day of top-flight action, first meets third and second plays fourth in matches that could play a big part in deciding who wins this year's title.

However, Pochettino said today at his pre-match press conference that the result of Sunday's match at the Emirates is "not important", even though Leicester will open up an eight-point lead with a win, while victory for Arsenal would take them back above North London rivals Spurs in the table.

"It is not important for us, we need to focus on our game," Pochettino told reporters. "After Sunday, if different results happen nothing changes because there are still a lot of games to be played.

"We need to try to improve and take the three points against Man City. That is the most important thing."

Pochettino was also asked about former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson's comments labelling the Argentine as the Premier League's top coach.

"I don't know if it is true or not, he has not called me and I haven't heard it in the media. It is just rumour, I don't know if it is true," Pochettino added.

Spurs have a near-fully fit squad to choose from for the trip to City, with Jan Vertonghen and Clinton N'Jie the club's only senior absentees.
