Tottenham Hotspur's Andre Villas-Boas: "Our new signings did well"

Tottenham Hotspur's new additions receive praise from their manager Andre Villas-Boas.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Andre Villas-Boas has praised the performances that his new signings put in during their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace earlier today.

Roberto Soldado, signed from Valencia earlier this month, scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot, while Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue were also handed their first competitive appearances for the club.

"Overall, our football was excellent. Our new signings did well. They were surprised at the intensity of the Premier League," Villas-Boas told BBC Sport.

"Roberto Soldado's a real out and out striker. He's not played a lot because of the Confederations Cup but he'll get fitter and sharper and will be even better.

"We should have put the game to bed but I'm generally very pleased to come to a difficult ground and get the three points."

Spurs are believed to have spent £60m already this summer.
