Milton Keynes Dons boss Karl Robinson has confirmed that he is interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Bentley.
Bentley, 27, has not played for Spurs since 2011 after a series of loan spells and injury troubles, and he is expected to depart the club this summer.
"I'd love to take Bents [David Bentley], but the chairman says I'm not allowed. David Bentley is a good friend of mine, he's someone I know well from Blackburn and we have the same agent," he told reporters.
"It's a deal I'd love to try and make happen but David Bentley has got tremendous quality and I'd be very, very surprised to see him playing outside of the Premier League."
Bentley has seven England caps to his name.
