Garry Monk not considering his Swansea City future

Garry Monk says that he is not thinking about his future as Swansea City head coach while the club try to secure Premier League survival.

Garry Monk has insisted that he is not thinking about his own future as Swansea City head coach.

The 35-year-old was handed the position following Michael Laudrup's exit seven weeks ago.

Despite his future being uncertain, Monk has insisted that he is solely focused on the team, as Swansea currently sit five points above the relegation zone with seven games left to play.

"Honestly, I am not thinking about my own position," Monk told reporters. "I am trying to do what is best for the players and best for the club. Hopefully, we are safe as soon as possible. We are not in that position right now.

"People ask me am I preparing to take it next season? I would be stupid not to. I don't want to get to the position where I haven't prepared as if I was taking it for next season, and then I get to the end of the season and [the chairman] says 'yes, you take it' and I am unprepared."

Swansea have grabbed maximum points from just one of their last eight Premier League matches.
