West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino has revealed that earning a spot in the England squad in the near future has been on his mind.
The 21-year-old has already scored five times for the Baggies this season, and he believes that he is ready to take an opportunity on the international stage should Roy Hodgson turn to him soon.
"[Playing for England] is one of my ambitions," Berahino told talkSPORT. "I'm always trying to push myself and make sure I give myself a chance so, when opportunities do come, I'm ready for it.
"In every game I go out there and do my best and show people what I'm about.
"If a chance does come with the seniors I will take it with both hands as that's ultimately the goal. I'll be performing every weekend to try and get into that team."
Berahino has scored nine goals in 11 appearances for the England Under-21s.
