Carlton Cole: 'West Ham United not safe yet'

West Ham United striker Carlton Cole warns his teammates that they could still be relegated this season despite their recent improvement on the pitch.

Carlton Cole has warned his West Ham United teammates that they could still be relegated this season despite their recent climb up the Premier League table.

The Hammers have risen up to 10th place in the standings in the past few weeks, thanks to a run of four consecutive wins.

However, Cole is aware that the team are still just seven points clear of the drop zone with 11 games left to play.

"We're not safe yet, we just need to keep winning games," the striker told West Ham's official website. "We are looking upwards.

"At the start of the season we were looking up too and it is good to do that rather than looking over your shoulder, because that can lead to mistakes."

West Ham continue their battle for Premier League survival on Saturday when they face Everton at Goodison Park.
