Interim manager Terry Connor has insisted that Roger Johnson was not dropped for a verbal altercation with Wolverhampton Wanderers teammate Wayne Hennessey.
Johnson was seen arguing with the Wolves goalkeeper during the recent 3-2 home loss against Bolton Wanderers.
The centre-back, who joined Wolves in the summer, was subsequently dropped for Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Stoke City.
However, Connor has insisted that he made the decision "on a football basis".
"It wasn't about last week and what happened," Connor told reporters.
"It was more about the three goals that went in against Bolton. I made that decision on a football basis."
Wolves are currently bottom of the Premier League table.
