Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo suggests that he is prepared to make "unpopular" decisions in order to improve the club's first-team squad.

Wolverhampton Wanderers head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has acknowledged that he will have to make some difficult decisions regarding his first-team squad this summer.

The West Midlands outfit have just won the Championship title by nine points and due to the funds made available by Fosun International, numerous high-profile players have been linked with a switch to Molineux.

Nuno has played down some of the names suggested in the media, but admits that he may have to push through with alterations to his group of players which may prove to be "unpopular".

The 44-year-old told Wolves TV: "On the part of the coach, now is the time to really start planning and start thinking, knowing and making decisions.

"Some of them you have to make, no matter if it's popular or not, but we have to make decisions simply, face to face and we tell them why, and the reason for it.

"Of course we have to make [those decisions] because we want to keep on growing and getting better. Players will come, of course, but the names of the press - no. We know what we want and in the right moment our fans will know."

Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Rui Patricio, Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof and AC Milan forward Andre Silva have been among the names linked with a transfer to Wolves.
