Wycombe Wanderers fall to Burton Albion defeat

Burton Albion move up to fourth in the League Two table courtesy of a 3-1 win at Wycombe Wanderers.

Wycombe Wanderers have missed out on the chance to move to the top of League Two, having fallen to a 3-1 defeat against Burton Albion this evening.

The visitors took the lead in the 38th minute when Philip Edwards headed in from Matthew Palmer's corner.

Burton scored a second goal shortly after half time through Alexander MacDonald, who was played through by Palmer before slotting an effort past Matt Ingram.

In the 65th minute Wycombe pulled a goal back when Shane Cansdell-Sherriff fouled Hogan Ephraim inside the box and Paul Hayes stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.

However, Jacob Blyth quickly restored Burton's two-goal lead three minutes later with a header from Damien McCrory's cross.

Despite 11 minutes of stoppage time, there were to be no more goals, as Burton held on to claim the win and move up to fourth in the League Two table.
