James Lowes: 'We haven't mentioned relegation'

James Lowes says that Bradford Bulls are simply focusing on the task at hand of beating Huddersfield Giants this weekend, rather than off-field matters.

Bradford Bulls head coach James Lowes has declared that his side are simply focusing on picking up much-needed points against Huddersfield Giants, rather than off-field matters.

The Bulls find themselves 14 points adrift of safety in the Super League table with just seven rounds of fixtures remaining, with defeat this weekend enough to confirm their relegation to the Championship.

A High Court bid regarding the six points they were docked at the start of the season gives supporters a little hope, but Lowes is focusing solely on the task at hand.

"I'll let other people deal with that," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying. "It won't have any ramifications on what we do. Our job is still the same - to win irrelevant of the situation.

"It doesn't change how we approach anything. We haven't mentioned relegation at all. I don't see any reason to mention it. Let's focus on the game and everything else will take care of itself.

"If we are relegated, then we'll deal with that on Monday morning. If we get a stay of execution, then we'll go onto Wigan and deal with that. We're focused on the game and anything that happens post-game we'll deal with after the match."

Lowes succeeded Francis Cummins as head coach last month.
