Arsenal attacker Emile Smith Rowe has been left out of the squad for Thursday's Europa League clash with FC Zurich in Group A.
The 22-year-old came off the bench in the 3-1 Premier League defeat to Manchester United at the weekend before appearing to pull up with a problem during the warm-down.
Right-back Cedric Soares has been left at home as well after picking up a knock, and Arteta is also working around the absences of Reiss Nelson, Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny for Thursday's game.
Aaron Ramsdale managed to shake off a thigh problem of his own to start at Old Trafford, but Mikel Arteta should consider handing Matt Turner his debut for the club in Switzerland.
Rob Holding is also due a start in defence and may take the place of William Saliba due to Gabriel Magalhaes's left-footedness, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney are both in with chances of starting in the wide areas.
A lack of midfield options should see Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga pair up once more, but 21-year-old Matt Smith is another option after being included in the senior squad.
Martin Odegaard is also likely to be handed a break as Fabio Vieira comes in for his full debut, but there is unlikely to be any respite for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, despite the inclusion of Marquinhos.
Up top, Eddie Nketiah will certainly expect to displace Gabriel Jesus as he aims to become the fifth Englishman to score in three successive Europa League starts, following in the footsteps of Harry Kane, James Tavernier, Jermain Defoe and Bobby Zamora.
Arsenal possible starting lineup: Turner; Tomiyasu, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney; Xhaka, Lokonga; Saka, Vieira, Martinelli; Nketiah
