Bayer Leverkusen lose Tin Jedvaj to thigh injury

Bayer Leverkusen will be without young Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj for the rest of the calendar year after the 19-year-old picked up a troublesome thigh injury.

Bayer Leverkusen defender Tin Jedvaj has been ruled out for the rest of the calendar year with a thigh injury.

The 19-year-old centre-back only returned to the club's first team last week against Hamburger SV, but the young Croatian will now be out again for the foreseeable future.

"It's terrible news," said Leverkusen head coach Roger Schmidt, according to the official Bundesliga website.

"Tin was fit again and we'd already planned his comeback in close coordination with the medical department. He's suffered a recurrence of the same injury, so we'll have to take a close look at that.

"When young players like Tin suffer the same injury three times, you also have to keep their careers in mind."

Leverkusen currently hold sixth spot in the Bundesliga standings with 15 points under their belt.
