Crystal Palace are to make a January bid for Celtic captain Scott Brown to the value of £5m, according to reports.

The 29-year-old midfielder has been a permanent fixture in the Bhoys starting XI since 2007, also going on to captain the Scotland national side.

According to The Scotsman, Eagles boss Neil Warnock has earmarked Brown as a crucial signing to help the Selhurst Park side avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Brown's former Celtic teammate Joe Ledley currently plies his trade for Palace.
