Sergio Romero will reportedly turn down interest from a number of clubs in order to stay at Manchester United this summer, despite the goalkeeper's lack of football.

Romero, who joined United on a free transfer in 2015, has made 42 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions, with his most productive season occurring in 2016-17.

The 31-year-old is very much second choice to David de Gea at Old Trafford and has been restricted to just four appearances this season, none of which has come in the Premier League.

According to The Sun, Romero is currently attracting interest from a number of clubs in Spain and Italy, in addition to Argentine outfit Boca Juniors.

However, the report has claimed that the experienced stopper is more than happy to remain as De Gea's back-up in Manchester as he still has two-and-a-half-years left to run on his £65,000-a-week contract.

Romero, who is a 96-time Argentina international, has represented Racing Club, AZ, Sampdoria and Monaco during a well-travelled career.
