Wolfsburg let a two-goal lead slip against Nuremberg to settle for a 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg threw away a two-goal lead as Nuremberg struck twice in the second half to leave the Volkswagen Arena with a 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga.

The home side got off to a dream start when Diego's free kick found the net after two minutes.

Wolfsburg continued to press and doubled their lead after 27 minutes courtesy of a fine left-footed strike from outside the box by Croatian international Ivica Olic.

It could have been 3-0 in first-half injury time but Patrick Helmes could only hit the post following a fast break.

Nuremberg came out a different team after the interval and began to carve out chances, and got their reward after the hour mark.

Two goals in five minutes brought them back on level terms. Firstly, Timmy Simons found the top corner from outside the area and then Hiroshi Kiyotake set up Per Nilsson from a set-piece situation.

Wolfsburg rallied and both sides continued to create chances, though, the best fell to Nuremberg's Tomas Peckhart, who hit the bar with a header at the death.

This result doesn't do a lot for either side, who both find themselves settled in the bottom half of the table.
