Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu admits that his side face an "impossible" task trying to overturn their 3-0 deficit to Tottenham Hotspur.

Inter Milan defender Cristian Chivu believes that his side face an "impossible" task to overturn their 3-0 deficit to Tottenham Hotspur in their Europa League clash.

Goals from Gareth Bale, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Verthonghen sealed an important win for Andre Villas-Boas's side and they will take a three-goal lead to the San Siro next week.

Chivu told UEFA.com: "It's quite difficult to play against a team that put [in that much] intensity and strength.

"When you score an away goal it's important. It's difficult now in this situation but there's still one more game to play and anything can happen, but it's very difficult for us to qualify.

"We have a week to prepare and we'll see but when you lose 3-0 it's almost impossible to get back."

The teams meet again at the San Siro on March 14.
