Mauricio Pochettino: 'Toby Alderweireld still 10 days away'

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld is still "10 days" away from being available for selection, according to Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld has been ruled out of Saturday's Premier League clash with West Ham United as he continues his recovery from a knee problem.

It had been reported that the Belgian centre-back had a chance of returning to action this weekend after taking part in a training session with Spurs during the recent international break.

However, head coach Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that the former Atletico Madrid defender is still "10 days" away from being available for selection.

"From the beginning we believed it would be a very short process with Toby, but then it was very slow. Today he is near to joining the group, which is good news. Maybe he will be one week, 10 days more," Pochettino told reporters.

Dele Alli, however, could feature against the Hammers after returning to training following a knee injury, which saw the midfielder miss England's fixtures with Scotland and Spain.
