Alan Curtis "happy to carry on" at Swansea City

Swansea caretaker boss Alan Curtis insists that he is "happy" to continue taking charge of the team until chairman Huw Jenkins appoints a new manager.

Swansea City caretaker manager Alan Curtis has insisted that he is "happy to carry on" in charge of the club until a new permanent manager is found.

Curtis has so far been unable to halt what is now a seven-match winless streak during his two games at the helm, but the performances in defeat against Manchester City and today's goalless draw against West Ham United have shown signs of improvement.

Chairman Huw Jenkins is still on the lookout for a new manager, with Marcelo Bielsa the favourite to land the role, but Curtis is preparing his team under the assumption that he will be in charge for the upcoming matches against West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day and Crystal Palace two days later.

"We are preparing as if we are in charge, there is a quick turnaround of games. We have to prepare not just for West Brom, but for Palace," Curtis told reporters.

"If someone comes in they can take the reins but we have to prepare. It is important to bring someone in sooner rather than later, but it is more important to get the right man.

"If that takes a while then we are happy to carry on - and we assume we will be in charge."

Swansea have now won just one of their last 13 Premier League matches to slide down into the relegation zone.
