Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld welcomes interest from the Premier League.

Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld has revealed that he would be interested in moving to the Premier League this summer.

The 24-year-old, who won the league title with his Dutch side this season, is widely regarded as one of the most talented defenders in Europe.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, according to reports, with a number of English clubs said to be preparing moves for the versatile defender.

"England and Germany are great competitions. I think I can make my next step there. I've seen Thomas Vermaelen and Jan Vertonghen make good moves," Alderweireld told De Telegraaf.

"It would be a bonus to play in the Champions League, but it's not a must. If you look at a club such as Tottenham Hotspur, where Jan Vertonghen now plays, that's also amazing.

"I want to go to a club where I can play football and where my style of play fits. I don't want to play in the bottom of a competition. I only want to leave Ajax for a beautiful club. Otherwise I stay in Amsterdam."

Liverpool have been strongly linked with his services.
