While Arsenal may lead the head-to-head record with Sheffield United as expected, it is not so one-sided as one may assume. Indeed, Arsenal have claimed 53 victories from their previous 120 contests against the Blades, who in turn have been triumphant on 40 occasions, and another 27 battles between the two teams have ended all square.

The vast majority of Sheffield United's successes in this fixture came during the 20th century, though, and Arsenal have unsurprisingly dominated this fixture in recent times, winning each of their last five games against the Premier League's cellar dwellers.

March 2024 saw Mikel Arteta's men condemn the Blades to one of their many embarrassing home defeats in the 2023-24 Premier League season, hitting Chris Wilder's men for six without reply - netting five of those strikes inside the opening 45 minutes and also bringing up 10,000 goals in their club's rich history.

Prior to that 6-0 slaughter and their subsequent relegation to the second tier, Sheffield United experienced a Halloween fright in a 5-0 Emirates drubbing in October 2023, where Eddie Nketiah struck his first Premier League hat-trick and Takehiro Tomiyasu finally opened his Arsenal account.

Before spending two years in the Championship doldrums, Sheffield United were also condemned to a pair of defeats against Arsenal behind closed doors in 2020-21, going down 2-1 in North London before being bested 3-0 at home in April 2021, which interestingly marked the first time that they had ever lost a Premier League match to the Gunners at Bramall Lane.

Arteta and co also possess fond knockout memories at Sheffield United's home, where Dani Ceballos was the hero in a 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win in the 2019-20 season, before the Gunners won their record-extending 14th honour in the tournament.

However, Arsenal failed to win either of their top-flight meetings with Wilder's side that year - losing 1-0 away from home under Unai Emery thanks to Lys Mousset's effort - a result which extended their winless Premier League sequence at Bramall Lane to six games after an identical defeat in December 2006.

The title-chasing visitors have now developed a taste for success on Sheffield United territory, though, and their 6-0 pummelling of the Blades on the road in 2023-24 marked the first time in their history that they have won three away games on the trot against the Blades.
