Mile Jedinak confirmed as Australian captain

Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak is confirmed as Australia's captain for this summer's World Cup finals in Brazil.

Crystal Palace midfielder Mile Jedinak has revealed that it will be a "humbling" experience to lead Australia at this summer's World Cup finals.

Jedinak had been handed the captaincy for his team's 4-3 loss to Ecuador earlier this year, and after it was confirmed that he will be given the armband for the tournament in Brazil, he has admitted that it feels "special".

The 29-year-old told the official Football Federation Australia website: "To be handed the responsibility of captaining my country at the World Cup is humbling, yet incredibly exciting.

"Just pulling the Socceroo shirt on fills me with pride but to be leading out my country and these players at the World Cup on behalf of all Australians is special."

Tim Cahill and Mark Bresciano have been named as vice captains by coach Ange Postecoglou
