New Barcelona signing Arda Turan has revealed that Lionel Messi has offered to give up his No.10 shirt to the Turkish international.
Former Atletico winger Turan says that the Argentine international, who scored 58 goals in 57 games for the Spanish treble winners last season, is prepared to give his jersey number away.
"When I got into the Turkish national team, I was wearing the No.14, because my father is a fan of Cryuff, but my shirt number is not too important to me. I will decide in January. Messi told me, 'If you want the 10, it's yours'," the 28-year-old told Sport.
"I can play in any position and I will work for it, this is why I have signed for Barca. I came to fight and I want to be one of the cogs of the team."
Turan, who joined Barcelona in a £24.1m transfer, cannot play an official game for the club until January 2016 due to a transfer ban imposed by FIFA.
