Josh McEachran: 'I once turned down a move to Real Madrid while at Chelsea'

Brentford midfielder Josh McEachran says that he turned down a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid during his youth days at Chelsea.

Brentford midfielder Josh McEachran has revealed that he once turned down a move to Real Madrid when he was a youngster at former club Chelsea.

McEachran recently brought his 15-year career at Stamford Bridge to an end after agreeing a permanent switch to Marinus Dijkhuizen's Championship outfit, but the 22-year-old might have found himself in La Liga had he chosen a different path during his youth career.

"I was 15 or 16 at the time and Chelsea offered me a very good contract. But Real showed interest in me and were going to fly my family out to Spain," said McEachran, according to the Daily Mail.

"And when Real Madrid want to sign you then it is very tempting.

"But in the end I chose to stay at Chelsea because they were my team and I had been there since such a young age."

McEachran joined Chelsea as a young prospect back in 2001.
