Brighton 3-0 Southampton

Brighton beats Southampton 3-0 at the Amex Stadium.

Matt Sparrow scored twice as Brighton beat Southampton 3-0 at the Amex Stadium this afternoon.

After a goalless first half, Saints striker Rickie Lambert picked up the first red card of his career after an altercation with Adam El-Abd within minutes of the restart.

Brighton midfielder Jake Forster-Caskey began the scoring by latching on to Kazenga LuaLua's rebounded shot to put the hosts ahead.

Matt Sparrow doubled their lead, making their advantage count after finding himself in open space and firing his shot from distance into the top corner.

The Brighton midfielder scored his second with five minutes to go, first finding the ball at his feet inside the area and then finding the top corner for the second time of the afternoon to secure all three points.
