Peter Cech hails Chelsea perseverance against Paris Saint-Germain

Petr Cech hails Chelsea's persistence after Demba Ba struck an 87th-minute goal to send them through to the Champions League semi-finals at the expense of Paris Saint-Germain.

Petr Cech has praised Chelsea's perseverance and said that they were "brilliant from start to finish" in knocking Paris Saint-Germain out of the Champions League.

The Blues cancelled out a two-goal first-leg deficit at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, with Demba Ba's 87th-minute strike sending them into the semi-finals.

Cech credited Chelsea's persistence in seeking an equaliser after the woodwork twice denied them, and believes that the victory is equal to some of Chelsea's previous great European nights.

"It's right up there with the Napoli game, it was the same circumstances and we came to the game having to win by two goals against a very dangerous counter-attacking side," he told Sky Sports News.

"They did very well, but we were brilliant from start to finish. We dealt with the danger of their counter-attacks quite well regarding the circumstances, but we risked quite a lot in the second half so we had to make sure we were ready.

"What I liked was the moment when we hit the crossbar twice in a row, nobody put their head down. We just kept digging, and that was the key because we kept right on to the end."

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho could face former club Real Madrid in the next round of the competition after they held off a spirited comeback from Borussia Dortmund to go through to the last four.
