Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo says that he could start Daniel Sturridge instead of Fernando Torres against Juventus in the Champions League.

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has hinted that Fernando Torres could be left on the bench against Juventus in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old striker has scored just six goals in 17 matches in all competitions so far this season.

"We will have to assess the whole team and see how everybody is, and how they have recovered," The Mirror quotes Di Matteo as saying. "But if I believe it is the right thing to do for the team, then yeah, I will leave him out.

"I thought when we moved Daniel [Sturridge] up there he looked a danger (in a 2-1 Premier League defeat to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday].

"He had a very good chance saved by the keeper and another put wide. He was always a threat to the defence - we need to score goals."

Chelsea are currently second in Group E with seven points from four matches, while Juventus are a point behind in third.
