Swansea City manager Paul Clement plays down rumours linking star striker Fernando Llorente to Premier League champions Chelsea.

Swansea City manager Paul Clement has played down rumours linking Fernando Llorente to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

The Spaniard revealed earlier this summer that an approach was made in January by Antonio Conte, under whom he won two Serie A titles and three domestic cups during their time together at Juventus.

However Clement insists that Llorente, who is currently recovering from a broken arm, is just focused on recuperating ahead of the new season, and praised his exploits in the previous campaign.

The Swans head coach told Sky Sports News: "I've heard that rumour every day since I joined Swansea.

"He's recovering from the broken arm he suffered on holiday, he's working hard to play for us and he was a key player for us last season.

"Without his goals last season the situation could have been different. We need him fit and ready."

Llorente scored 15 Premier League goals last season as Swansea escaped the relegation zone in the final months to finish 15th in the table.
