John Terry: 'Pressure is on title rivals'

Chelsea skipper John Terry believes that the pressure is on Liverpool and Manchester City in this season's title race.

Chelsea captain John Terry has expressed his belief that the pressure is on title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to keep picking up points.

The Blues stayed within two points of leaders Liverpool this afternoon, overcoming 10-man Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium after Liverpool had beaten City 3-2 at Anfield earlier in the day.

Terry believes that a Liverpool victory was the best outcome for his side's own title aspirations and praised his teammates for the patience they showed in breaking down a Swansea side that played the majority of the match a man down.

"We obviously knew about it and looking at the result, it's probably the one we wanted. It was important, as the manager said before the game, that we knew that regardless of that result if we don't win our games we'll make it very easy for them," Terry told Sky Sports News.

"But we've won our game and the pressure is still on the teams above and below us. I think patience was the key today especially after they had their man sent off not long into the game. Sometimes we weren't patient or at our best but we got the three points today and we'll take them home."

Chelsea take on Sunderland next Saturday before a potentially crucial trip to face Liverpool at Anfield a week later.
