Alan Pardew: 'Scoreline flattered Leicester City'

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says that his team were unfortunate to suffer a 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has claimed that Leicester City were fortunate to run out 3-1 winners over his side during Saturday's Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium.

Pardew conceded that the Eagles struggled to deal with Leicester's "pace and power" in the second period, but does not believe that the scoreline was a fair reflection of what occurred on the afternoon.

"The scoreline wasn't a fair reflection. We had a great start, hit the bar and that could have changed the course of the game. But then they cranked it up for the last 20 minutes of the first half and we struggled to hold on to them," Pardew told reporters.

"The second half we had loads of chances but failed to capitalise. We were okay today but their pace and power were too much for us at the end. They are champions for a reason. We had good commitment to the game but the final moments just let us down. Our quality in the final third let us down."

Yohan Cabaye scored Palace's consolation in the 85th minute after Leicester took a three-goal lead through Ahmed Musa, Shinji Okazaki and Christian Fuchs.
