Hull City manager Mike Phelan admits that he is 'extremely disappointed' after the Tigers slipped to their fifth consecutive defeat in the Premier League.

Hull City manager Mike Phelan has said that his side need to learn quickly after their 2-0 defeat to Stoke City at the KCOM Stadium this afternoon.

The result made it five consecutive defeats in the Premier League for the Tigers, who have now dropped into the relegation zone for the first time this season.

"Extremely disappointing," Phelan told reporters afterwards. "We didn't pass the ball well enough, we were nervous and it didn't go in our favour.

"The first goal is exceptional. But we have to look forward. Once we went 2-0 down we changed it a bit to go three at the back and we had more momentum. But the game was drifting away from us.

"We need to do more. We are not here to lie down and let teams beat us. We have to learn quickly, we are on the back end of a few defeats. We need to regroup and rebuild. We are under no illusions and we shouldn't be. We are trying, we need to rebuild confidence and set our sights for the battle ahead."

Phelan's side next travel to Bristol City in the EFL Cup in midweek, before facing Watford at Vicarage Road in the league next weekend.
