Steve Cotterill: 'Dwight Gayle rejected Bristol City move'

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill confirms that Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle will not be moving to Ashton Gate.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has confirmed that Crystal Palace striker Dwight Gayle will not be joining the club.

Palace recently accepted a bid from the Robins which could have eventually been worth £8m, but reports had suggested that Gayle was unsure about making the switch to Ashton Gate.

The 25-year-old is also rumoured to be attracting interest from Norwich City, Fulham and Queens Park Rangers, and leaving Selhurst Park still appears to be the likely outcome despite the disappointment for Cotterill.

"Dwight Gayle will not be coming here now," the Robins boss told reporters. "He has made it clear he does not want to come, so we have to move on."

Gayle scored 10 goals in all competitions last season but he has fallen behind the likes of Marouane Chamakh and summer signing Connor Wickham in the battle for a spot in attack.
