The Taysiders beat Hearts on Wednesday and face Motherwell this weekend.

Jim McIntyre has challenged his Dundee players to win back-to-back games in the Ladbrokes Premiership for the first time this season.

The Taysiders were boosted by the 2-1 win over Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday night which took them off the bottom of the table and above St Mirren by one point.

The Dens Park men have won only three league games this campaign and McIntyre is looking to build on that positive result in Edinburgh with a home win over Motherwell on Saturday.

He said: "That is the challenge, that we haven't done this season. Can we put back-to-back wins together?

"That is the challenge that has been set out to the players.

"We are at home, we need our crowd to be right behind us but equally we know we have to play well to get them off their seats.

"It has just been a case of trying to rest up and get prepared for Motherwell.

"It was obviously a brilliant result (Hearts) first and foremost, the players played exceptionally well and handled losing the freak goal well.

"It is all about concentrating on Motherwell now.

"There is a long way to go, a lot of work ahead and it's important that we focus on the game coming up. The boys are looking forward to the game."

Motherwell's 1-0 win against Hibernian at Fir Park moved them 11 points clear of 10th-placed Hamilton and 11 ahead of Dundee, but McIntyre is determined to reduce the deficit.

The former Ross County boss said: "Motherwell have a sizeable gap and with them coming here we want to make sure they don't extend that gap.

"We will be doing everything we can to try and make sure we are the ones taking the three points.

"But it will be a difficult game."
