Team News: Jesse Lingard replaces injured Saido Berahino for England Under-21s

Gareth Southgate chooses Jesse Lingard to replace the injured Saido Berahino in his England Under-21s starting lineup for their opening match at U21 Euro 2015.

England Under-21s manager Gareth Southgate has picked Jesse Lingard to replace the injured Saido Berahino in the Young Lions' opening match of U21 Euro 2015 against Portugal Under-21s this evening.

Berahino was expected to start on the left of a front three, but was ruled out of the whole tournament earlier today with a knee injury suffered in training.

Lingard takes his place alongside Harry Kane and Nathan Redmond in attack, with Danny Ings having to settle for a place on the bench.

Liverpool defender Tiago Ilori, meanwhile, is included in the Portugal starting lineup.

England: Butland; Jenkinson, Moore, Gibson, Garbutt; Ward-Prowse, Carroll, Chalobah; Redmond, Kane, Lingard

Portugal: Sa; P. Oliveira, Esgaio, Guerreiro, Ilori, S. Oliveira, William, Cavaleiro, Mario, B. Silva, Pereira
