UEFA is reportedly demanding a £275m compensation fee in order to postpone Euro 2020 for a year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

UEFA will reportedly demand a staggering £275m compensation fee to delay Euro 2020 by one year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Following the outbreak of COVID-19, sporting leagues across the world have been postponed in the past week, with the Premier League not due to return until April 4 at the very earliest.

As a result, the fate of the domestic tournaments has been shrouded in uncertainty, with all fixtures in the Champions League and Europa League also suspended.

According to The Athletic, UEFA believes that postponing Euro 2020 by one year will cost it £275m, and the body will reportedly demand compensation from its member leagues and clubs.

The report also claims that the governing body will inform stakeholders of this notion during crisis talks on Tuesday, where it is expected that the Euros will be postponed in order to cater to the domestic leagues.

Euro 2020 is currently due to start on June 12.
