Fulham forward Darren Bent 'disappointed' by snub

Darren Bent says that he was 'disappointed' to have been left out of the starting lineup for Fulham's defeat to Everton on Sunday.

Darren Bent has admitted that he was 'disappointed' to have been left out of Felix Magath's starting lineup for Fulham's crucial Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday.

The 30-year-old, who is on loan at Craven Cottage from Aston Villa, has made just 10 Premier League starts for the Cottagers since joining last summer.

Despite Magath claiming that Bent's place on the bench was down to a fitness issue, the forward has insisted that he was fit for Fulham's 3-1 defeat to Everton.

"I was fine to play," The Express quotes Bent as saying. "I trained on Saturday. I took a knock on the Thursday and missed out on a large portion of training. The day of the game, I felt fine to be honest.

"It is especially disappointing to be stuck on the bench in games like Sunday's, where you feel that you can affect the game, when your team needs a goal. Obviously, over the years I have managed to produce quite a few of those."

Fulham are rooted at the bottom of the table, five points adrift from safety.
