Leicester City cruise to comfortable win over Ipswich Town

Leicester City cruise to a comfortable 3-0 win over Ipswich Town at the King Power Stadium in their Championship clash.

Leicester City cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win over Ipswich Town in their Championship clash at the King Power Stadium thanks to goals from Jamie Vardy, David Nugent and Chris Wood.

The home side started the game well and could have taken the lead in the fourth minute when Danny Drinkwater lifted a corner into the area for Wes Morgan to power a header at goal, but Dean Gerken was there to make the save.

Ipswich responded to the early pressure as Matty James lost possession on the edge of his own box, and that allowed Cole Skuse to nip in but he could only fire his effort wide of the target.

Leicester took the lead when Vardy capitalised on an error from Jay Tabb as his backpass fell short of Gerken, and the striker ran onto the ball, rounded the keeper and slotted the ball home.

The Foxes doubled their lead in the 31st minute when Ritchie De Laet raided down the left and fortunately saw his cross knocked back to him, and with the second attempt he found Nugent who found the net.

After the break, Ipswich tried to respond as Stephen Hunt lifted a free kick into the box and Christophe Berra met the cross with a powerful header that went just over the bar.

Minutes later another cross caused panic in the Leicester defence and Frank Nouble and Daryl Murphy both had chances to get a shot at goal, but Kaspar Schmeichel was able to gather before they could threaten.

The home side were comfortably holding out for the win and they secured the three points two minutes from time when Chris Wood scored their third of the afternoon as he ran through the middle of the defence to fire past Gerken.
