Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp: "We are not the Harlem Globetrotters"

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that playing entertaining football is not a priority, having been involved in another five-goal affair in the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp has told his Liverpool players that grinding out results, rather than entertaining supporters, is all that counts following their victory over Leicester City.

The Reds were involved in another high-scoring game at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon, earning all three points in an entertaining 3-2 win.

That triumph in the East Midlands takes the tally of Premier League goals scored in Liverpool games this season to 23, but Klopp has emphasised the importance of simply picking up wins rather than producing a spectacle for those in the stands.

"I know about pressure a lot – I actually had it all my life because of different reasons," he told reporters. "Pressure when it is the right pressure, it always helps. When it is without sense then it doesn't help – and I'm very good at ignoring it.

"But, you can imagine, we want to be successful. We know the quality we have makes us responsible for being successful. I know that. But I said to the boys before the game that we are not the Harlem Globetrotters. We don't go out and try to play really good football, we are here for results and so we play for results.

"I loved how we fought for it. It could have been clearer but, after a few games with no results, or not the right results, you have to fight back. That's what we did and now we can build on this."

Liverpool are joint-third in the list of highest-scoring teams so far this season, while defensively only three sides have conceded more.
