Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah named Premier League Player of the Season

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is named the 2017-18 Premier League Player of the Season.

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the 2017-18 Premier League Player of the Season.

The 25-year-old has enjoyed a stellar debut season at Anfield, scoring 31 goals in 35 top-flight appearances to put the Reds on the verge of a top-four finish.

The Egypt international, who joined from Roma last summer for his first Premier League spell since the 2013-14 campaign with Chelsea, told reporters: "I am very happy, I am very proud to win it.

"They say I didn't have success here the first time, so it was always in my mind to have success here in the Premier League."

Salah also paid tribute to Reds manager Jurgen Klopp, adding: "Before everything, we are friends, I like him a lot.

"He has helped me a lot to do what I'm doing now, on the field and off it, I have to thank him for everything he has done this year.

"I really, really respect him a lot and I'm sure we are going to do something special for the club this year."

Salah, who has already won the Football Writers' Player of the Year award and the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award, remains in pole position for the Golden Boot ahead of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.
