Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian confirms that he is set to leave the Reds when his contract expires at the end of the season.

One of Liverpool's first-team goalkeepers has confirmed that he is eyeing a move away from Anfield in the summer transfer window.

Experienced Spaniard Adrian has served as Jurgen Klopp's third-choice stopper behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher and has unsurprisingly not made a single appearance for the club this season.

The 37-year-old has been on the bench in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup thanks to Alisson's absences through injury, but he has not played for Liverpool since the 2022 Community Shield win over Manchester City.

Adrian's contract at Anfield expires at the end of the season, and the former West Ham United and Real Betis goalkeeper has been widely expected to move on when his terms expire.

In a recent interview with Mucho Deporte, the Spaniard confirmed that he wants to head back to his homeland for the 2024-25 season, although he admitted that he is yet to discuss his future with Liverpool.

"I would like to return to LaLiga after 11 seasons in the Premier. It would be closing a cycle. I am still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37," Adrian said.

"You already know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, have not had very serious injuries. serious lately and in the end you are fine, daily training gives you that intensity that in the end makes you compete.

"It has to be a nice project, interesting... I haven't sat down with Liverpool yet either. I don't rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in the La Liga goals."

Adrian's proposed exit from Liverpool will bring an end to his five-year stay at Anfield, during which time he has kept seven clean sheets in 26 matches while winning seven major honours, including the 2019-20 Premier League title.

The 37-year-old had previously made a name for himself in England with West Ham United, who signed him in 2013 after his successful rise through the Real Betis youth ranks.

As well as Adrian, whose summer departure was seen as inevitable anyway, Liverpool are also expected to lose current number two Kelleher when the summer transfer window opens for business.

The Republic of Ireland international has played second fiddle to Alisson for a few years, although he enjoyed a prolonged run in the first XI while his Brazilian compatriot was out through injury earlier this season.

However, Kelleher immediately returned to his regular seat on the bench when Alisson exited the infirmary, and Liverpool supposedly expect him to push for a move elsewhere in search of regular minutes.

A move to Celtic has been mooted for the Irishman as a successor to current Bhoys number one Joe Hart, who announced earlier this year that he would be retiring from professional football at the end of the season.

All of Adrian, Kelleher and Klopp could therefore be set for their Anfield farewells on Sunday, when Liverpool host Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final game of the Premier League campaign.
