UEFA president Michel Platini admits that he does not like seeing Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City spending huge amounts of money.

UEFA president Michel Platini has denounced the spending of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City but admitted that there is little he can do about it.

PSG spent over £120m on transfers during the summer, while Manchester City have spent close to £1bn since Shiekh Mansour took over the club in 2008, and the Frenchman has said that he does not like the level of spending from either side.

"I am not in favour of globalisation, but legally I cannot do anything," said Platini.

"I can not allow myself in a liberal world, to question the origin of the owners, even if I regret that clubs falling into the hands of foreign capital, because for me, the identity of a club is its region, its supporters."

Platini recently suggested that the Champions League may be expanded to include as many as 64 teams.
