Man City injury news, return dates for Newcastle clash: Rodri, De Bruyne latest

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Newcastle United.

Manchester City will be aiming to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they head to St James' Park on Saturday afternoon to tackle Newcastle United.

Pep Guardiola's side drew 2-2 with Arsenal in the league last weekend, with John Stones netting a dramatic last-gasp leveller for the reigning champions against the Gunners.

The Citizens, who are top of the Premier League table on 13 points, were then in EFL Cup action on Tuesday night, recording a 2-1 victory over Championship outfit Watford to progress to the fourth round.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Newcastle, who were beaten 3-1 at Fulham in the league last time out.

Rodri

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Man City confirmed on Wednesday that Rodri had suffered knee ligament damage in the clash with Arsenal last weekend. A timeframe in terms of his recovery has still not been set, but it is believed that the Spain international faces an uphill task to play again before the end of the campaign.

Kevin De Bruyne

Possible return date: September 28 (vs. Newcastle)

De Bruyne has now missed Man City's last two matches against Arsenal and Watford with a groin complaint, but there is a slight chance that the experienced attacker could be back in the squad for this contest.

Nathan Ake
