Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley admits that he is happy to have progressed into a first-team regular for club and country after his injury problems last season.

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has admitted that he is excited for the future after securing a first-team place at Old Trafford.

Cleverley scored in United's 3-0 win over Newcastle United at the weekend as he rediscovers his form after missing much of last season through injury, and the 23-year-old has revealed that he is proud to be featuring so prominently for club and country.

"Everyone knows that I had some injuries last season so to be at United and in the England squad is something that I'm hugely proud of.

"I'm very excited about the future. We have only had the opening couple of months of the season but I have played at massive stadiums in some huge games already. So it is all very good in terms of gaining experience."

Cleverley will be expected to feature when England take on San Marino on Friday evening.
