Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson thinks that the PFA ruling over Carlos Tevez is "strange".

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that the Professional Footballers' Association's ruling that resulted in Manchester City halving Carlos Tevez's fine is "strange".

The North West club were forced to cut Tevez's original fine of four weeks' wages in half after the PFA backed the Argentina international in the hearing.

"I think it is a bit strange of course but the regulations are there," said Ferguson. "It is a fact that the maximum fine you can give a player is two weeks' [wages].

"It seems a bit crazy in that particular situation but it's there and there's nothing you can do about it."

City released a statement claiming that the PFA have a "conflict of interest" with regards to representing the striker.
